About Meredith Baxter

Meredith Baxter In film, television and on stage, Meredith Baxter is noted for her accessible portrayals of intelligent, independent women who struggle with the challenges before them.
Meredith achieved success early in her career with a string of hit television series including "Bridget Loves Bernie," the critically acclaimed drama "Family," and most notably, the long-running and extremely popular "Family Ties." Meredith made a seamless transition to drama after seven years as one of America's favorite sitcom stars and quickly became one of television's most sought-after actors. To date, Meredith has made over 50 movies for television and continues her love of acting today with numerous appearances on hit dramas, including "Cold Case," "What About Brian" and "Brothers and Sisters." She also hosts "A Better Life," a magazine-style show dedicated to self-improvement.

In recent years, Meredith has taken on the role of entrepreneur, launching her first line of skin care products in 1997. Her newest skin care line, Meredith Baxter Simple Works, is based on a proprietary formulation of natural ingredients, including botanicals and micronized vitamins. A portion of the profits from sales of Meredith's skin care products go to the Meredith Baxter Fund for Breast Cancer Research, which supports vital breast cancer programs throughout the United States. The initial intent behind the skin care line had been to correct Meredith's own dry skin problem; the product was so good, however, that she decided to bring it to the public. Her original line was test-marketed with great success on the Home Shopping Network. Today, Meredith Baxter Simple Works is available online at http://www.meredithbaxtersimpleworks.com/ and in gift stores around the country.

Meredith has devoted much of her time to speaking out on issues about which she is passionate. A champion of women's rights, she is an active supporter of NARAL and Planned Parenthood. For her work on the television film "My Breast," she received a special award for public awareness from the National Breast Cancer Coalition.

Meredith is the mother of five children. The youngest, twins, Mollie and Peter, are now attending colleges on the East Coast.
